Delhi University has grown into one of the largest universities in India. At present, there are 16 faculties, 86 academic departments, 77 colleges and 5 other recognised institutes spread all over the city, with around 1.5 lakhs regular students and 2.6 lacs students in non-formal education programme.
DU students have their own charm. There might be many other universities and colleges in India but one can’t find the diversity like DU anywhere else. Students come from different cultures, religions, backgrounds etc. Still, when they join DU, they become equal and develop a sense of commonality between them. The ‘swag’ factor is the same for every DU student, no matter which college.
People have a notion that north campus is the best. But south campus rocks too. If north campus have ‘Hudson Lane’, south campus have ‘Satyaniketan’. If north campus have ‘Miranda’, south campus have ‘LSR’ and ‘Jesus and Mary’. But what DU have, any other University can never have. The fun and the feel of DU is unmatchable. The coolness of teachers here is also of another level. The fests and events of DU are the best from the rest. The fests of Hindu College, SRCC and Kirori Mal College are some which are the most happening.
Delhi University has a list of very prominent alumnus. Kiran Bedi (first woman to become an IPS officer), Amitabh Bachchan (actor), Anurag Kashyap (film maker), Ritu Beri (fashion designer), Khushwant Singh (novelist), Arnab Goswami (editor-in-chief, Times Now), Arun Jaitley (politician) are some of the leading names in their respective fields. DU is therefore, the place to be.
If you are getting admission in DU in the course of your preference, no matter which college, no matter north campus or south campus, don’t think twice and grab the opportunity. You’ll live the best 3 years of your life here. All the best for the admission season.
